I was able to travel around South East Asia for a month earlier this year with my wife Christine, and my parents.

While in Malaysia we had the opportunity of participating in the World Clown Association.  I performed, taught and entered competition.  There were 13 countries represented at the conference.  It was a great time being able to rub shoulders with so many other clowns.

As you may already know I had the honor of winning All Around Clown for 2012 in San Diego, CA.  All Around Clown is achieved by having the highest overall score when all of the competition scores are added together.  Individual competitions include paradability, single skit, costume and makeup.  There is another award as well, “Master Clown.”  This title is only given to people that are able to win All Around Clown two years in a row.

This year, I happened to tie for All Around Clown.  I do not know if that has happened before.  However, by winning All Around Clown two years in a row I have officially been named Master Clown by the World Clown Association.  Only two other people have achieved this title.  One of those is my father, Randy.  For me to win was actually a little bit of a surprise to me, but a welcome one.

I constantly remember a quote that I first heard in my History of Western Philosophy class at North Central University.  We are only here because we stand on the shoulders of giants.  Thank you to everyone who has supported my career over the past.  God willing we will continue to move forward.  I am fully aware that there is always someone better and there is always more to learn.  So that is my goal, to continue to learn and improve.  Of course, hopefully you are able to benefit from some of my work as well.  We will see you down the road!

Hey, Ben! I saw you at Kid’s Crusade last week! Man, you got talent!! I like “Dust Bunny”, the Chinese yoyo, how you can juggle 4-5 balls at a time, but what was really awesome was how you jump roped on a plastic, yet dense ball. That was cool! You know, I’m not surprised you won. You know, I’ve been practicing juggling since I was 3. After seeing you, and how you broke down the steps, I was able to juggle 5 balls! Thanks for helping. You inspired me to open up, be outgoing and be me! My friends and I are starting a babysitters club and actually, you helped get us going, so thanks again! Hope to talk and maybe see you soon! :)

Hey, Bro! Don’t know that I’ve said it before, but we’re so proud of you AND Christine for being the best you can be at your chosen careers! It’s awesome that you look at your lives/careers as always seeing ways to improve and to continually add new tricks and abilities to your repertoir. Nothing is really worth doing, unless you are willing to do it to the best of your abilities and never stop learning! Keep it up! ^_^
